We have only recently broken Bess in and she proved very easy with no refusal at any thing, for the farrier and loads easy in a trailer or lorry..She is good in traffic and with farm machinery and other unusual obstacles. Clydesdale x shire mare, 6 years old, only recently haltered and started handling, 17.1hh or so, she now leads, ties up, loads and catches with a bucket(some days I dont need a bucket), she needs more time spent doing the basics, we have had her feet up but until she is lifting daily I feel this is a not progressing as fast as it could, she is kind natured but genuinely green and big! if you are nervous or novice please do not contact me as you will not be offered her, she will thrive in a routine with a knowledgeable and experienced person who understands the requirements of an unhandled horse of this size. She has been in a herd environment which is not ideal as it means she gets less one to one and the others are all super petted and squish her out the way. She will make a fantastic riding type, big leggy type of heavy, passported and wormed and now fed a little hard feed each morning, she is also still living out. Stunning, genuine 16hh gelding that has done a bit of everything. Has been used for sj, xc hunting, fun rides, beach rides, has taken part in hunt scurries and just general hacking. Was used for driving with previous owner but I have never driven him. He loves to jump and is safe in the heaviest of traffic. He has excellent stable manners and will live in or out. Shire x gelding in Carlisle

Shire X 6 year old gelding. Andy is a 6 year old Shire x gelding. He is lovely to ride and super safe. He is a kick along in the school but can pick up a gear when out and about cantering up the fell etc. He is a big lad and for that reason I wouldn't sell him to a beginner. He will need someone who is confident to handle him on the ground, he isn't small. He has done a bit of everything including dressage, jumping up to 70cm and started XC this year. He is good to hack alone and in company. However needs a confident rider when hacking alone as he lacks confidence - one big squeeze to get him going is all it takes and once he's off the yard he is an armchair ride. He is coming along nicely with his schooling with 3 beautiful paces, working in an outline when asked. Please remember he is 6 so you will need be continue to school him - if you're looking for a schoolmaster that has been there and done everything he isn't for you. He give everything his best and really tries to please his rider. Andy is currently barefoot and it has never been an issue. He is nail shy so will need a farrier that will work with him quietly - if you're local I can give you the details of my farrier who can shoe him without any issues. He is good for the vet, to bath, load etc. This is a very hard sale so please no time wasters. He is only for sale as I'm looking to do more jumping and XC but he is too heavy for the job.
