Talented all rounder 16.1 Irish Gelding

Prince is a 16.1 Irish 10 year old gelding who I have owned for 3 years. He came to me completely green but we have worked hard together to bring him on to be the superb horse he now is. My main interest is show jumping and last year he got his 4 British Novice double clears. He has also won or has been placed in several unaffiliated events. He also loves cross country. I have competed unaffiliated up to 1m, and cross country schooled round 1.20. He came 1st and 2nd in the two unaffiliated cross country events I took part in last year. He also loves sponsored rides and we have done RAF Halton and others and he jumped the plane with ease! His flatwork is good and at his first ever dressage event he came 1st with 76%. He is very willing to learn and is a very affectionate horse both in and out of the stable. He is good with the farrier, vet and dentist etc. Good to clip, good to load. Such a heart breaking decision but my beautiful Irish Thoroughbred is up for sale. I currently can now no longer ride as I am waiting for a back operation and will be unable to walk for months, so this is the best choice for my boy. Xander has come such a long way coming from a bad previous home. He has been ridden by a novice but I want him to go too a home with experience. He needs a lot more schooling and hacking out (walk trot) to build his muscle up as he was very under nourished. He is currently coming back into work being lunged and ridden slowly after having a rest. He is a very lazy ride but slight squeeze and he will listen, so no leg kickers!! I am only wanting him to go too a 10* home as he is a very loved boy, so experienced people only please. Bertie is a genuine, sweet horse who always tries his best in everything he does. He lives to impress and always seeks approval and praise from his rider. We have been focusing on schooling and Bertie has came on leaps and bounds, which has been a result of regular lessons from Kelly Douglas. He has substantially improved and there is huge potential in him and with a little more work he will be fabulous to do dressage. Out hacking, Bertie does require a bit of persuasion and relies on the confidence to come from his rider. This is purely because there was an incident a few months back where he was chased by dogs and I fell off. However, he has since seen dogs and been around them but I have been trying to get him used to them again but I'm sure, with time, Bertie will feel confident hacking out alone again. Prior to this he hacked out with company no problem and will go first, last or middle. He really is no bother. Jumping is definitely the field that Bertie excels in. He LOVES jumping and I have established that this is where he is most confident and the activity that he enjoys the most. Bertie will jump anything you put in front of him (including arena fences) and I have never known him to refuse a jump. Loves cross-country even more and will happily go around a course on his own. He will go venturing in and out of the water, including jumping. He will literally jump anything. However, he does get quite excited when jumping/doing XC therefore needs a competent rider. In the right hands Bertie will go very far in the competition world and I would love for him to go to someone who wants to compete regularly as he loves getting out and about. He is NOT a first horse, due to his size and strength (during jumping), however he is always snaffle mouthed. He is fine to load and travel, you don’t even know he’s there and if necessary he will actually stand in the box all day. No problem for the dentist and to catch from the field. When getting shod, he can be a bit funny with his back legs, however lets me pick them out, so I'm not sure whether he has had a bad experience with the farrier previously. He can also be a bit nervous to clip around his neck, although is starting to get used to it but on his body he is fine. Stable manners are impeccable. This superb horse will not go to just anyone, homes will be vetted and I will ask for references. He is my pride and joy and I'm completely gutted to be selling him but due to uni/exams these next few years he would be wasted and he's way too good to be a field ornament.
