Cracking little horse, has done all pc stuff and competed in hunter trials and Ode, usually in the ribbons. Lovely nature in and out of stable, good to catch, shoe, traffic and load,(but only travels on right hand side of trailer) For sale as daughter lost interest in him. 10 year old TB 16'2 TB Gelding

10 year old 16'2 TB Gelding. We have owned Felix for just over a year and have come to the conclusion that he needs a home that has more time for him. He has come a long way since we brought him but needs more work and we just don't have the time. He schools beautifully the way he carries himself is delightful he has three lovely paces and has a lovely fluid movement, I could imagine him doing a very nice dressage test. We have never taken him out competing and apart from popping him over a little jump in our school he hasn't done any jumping since we have owned him so can't really comment on his jumping ability. We are definitely what you would call a happy hacking home so haven’t taken him to shows. He is best when ridden frequently although last weekend we rode for the first time in 3 months and hacked on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday he was excited and it took longer than usual to tack him up and as soon as my husbands bottom was in the saddle he was jogging up the road! He jogged around and was generally very excitable so we only did road work. On the Sunday he was like a totally different horse, stood quietly to be tacked up, easy to mount and was cool as a cucumber so we went out for a good 2 hours and had 3 canters and a gallop. It was very pleasant hack. My husband and I mainly hack together which Felix does prefer but he has hacked alone and if he did it more I am sure he would settle much more quickly. We hack down fairly busy roads and he is fine, he does very occasionally do excited little bucks, not in nasty 'I am going to throw you off way' just I am excited and I want to go. Where he needs the most work still is on the ground he has a nervous disposition and will need a patient owner who has time to gain his trust. He isn’t at all nasty and does have stable manners he just gets nervous. We clipped him this weekend and we do it in stages so it takes 2 days rather than a few hours. He will stand to be groomed for 20 minutes and then gets fidgety, he takes longer than you average horse to tack up, nothing at all nasty he just has trust issues. He loads fine in either a box or trailer but doesn't like travelling alone, we tend to load him last and then out first to try and keep his mood as calm as possible. He can't be left in a field by himself or left on the yard by himself. He is good for the farrier and has never been lame or had any health problems. Up to date with jabs. 12 years, grey very chunky cob gelding. Brought as a 14 hand, but I'd say slightly smaller. We brought him 12 months ago for the riding school however he is not suitable. Not nasty just to much about him for novices. Hacks alone and in company first or last, not strong or silly. Did have a scare with a quarry lorry coming past him at 60. Did nothing silly just spooked him, I'd say he has done far more off road hacking. Can go nicely in the school but is out of work and roughed off, hence price. Bill is a forward going fun but safe sane and sensible ride. Hacks out alone or in company, will go first or last. Is ridden in a snaffle but can be a little strong at times. You could not ask for better ground manners he is a true gentleman and never uses his size against you. Bill has only ever been used as a happy hacker but could easily show if someone put the time into schooling him. Bill is also Brilliant in the heaviest traffic nothing seems to phase him. I have been riding him bareback and cantering him in open fields on his own and in company and he does not put a foot wrong. Bill loads but does worry and sweats a lot despite not moving so would benefit from some short journeys. Bill has recently had a new set of shoes but the farrier did say he should be able to go barefoot. Also recently had teeth done & been wormed & had first vaccination. The only downside to this lovely boy is that he does have sweet itch which is easily managed with a rug. Hence £ with rug saddle available by seperate negioation
