NEWMAN OF LONDON ENGLISH DIAL FUSEE 12" WALL CLOCK

Newman of London Fusee English Dial Clock in Mahogany case. 8 Day Clock face diameter 12 inches (Date from "Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World Vol. 2" by Brian Loomes. Either John Newman circa Robert Newman circa William Newman circa John Newman circa High quality wire driven fusee movement with cast brass bezel. With pendulum and key. Mahogany case with both side and bottom openings. This clock was sold on E-Bay last year, the suspension spring was damaged in transit. I offered the buyer a new suspension spring, but he did not have the knowledge or expertise to replace the spring, and the clock was returned to me. Upon receipt of the returned clock the wire on the fusee barrel had come off, and the clock remains in this state. The fusee steel wire is frayed (as seen in the photograph) where it fixes to the fusee barrel, and should be replaced. One of the wooden dial securing pegs has broken. These two areas to address and repair, are minimal to anyone with knowledge and skill with antique clock repairs and refurbishment. The "Buy It Now" price reflects the fact that the steel wire on the fusee needs to be replaced and refitted, and a new wooden securing peg is required. The mahogany case is in really good condition and nicely aged also the original 4 pegs holding the case are still intact. The brass bezel and glass are both in excellent condition. London Brighton and South Coast Railway teak cased 18 inch dial weight driven wall clock.

This is a London Brighton and South Coast Railway teak cased 18 inch dial weight driven wall clock. It is a large and attractive solid Teak cased wall mounted weight driven regulator that was supplied to the LBSCR in at a cost of £d by Richard Webster of Cornhill St London it spent all of it's railway working life at Streatham Common Railway Station. The Dial was repainted by the Southern and later British Railways Southern Region clock contractor, John Walker of 1 South Molton Street, London post . This type of clock was usually mounted externally hence the need for using Teak in the case construction, the movement has six spoked wheels, deadbeat escapement, Harrison's maintaining power and a deal pendulum rod with a cast zinc cylindrical bob which is suspended from the backboard, this is a impressive clock standing 85 inches tall so can't always fit the modern houses ceiling height !
